Stagecrafters #2

When I arrived at the theater on my first day I was really nervous because I had never done this before and I expected to be paired up with kids that had a lot of expertise and would judge me if I screwed up right away. It turned out that I was the only one who had volunteered for the actual set building. There were people who would come in to paint and decorate but it was going to be just me and the set designer in terms of building the framework. It turns out that set building just required cutting and putting together 2 by 4s which I have done before along with much more complex carpentry projects with both my dad and grandpa. I was able to jump right on board and work very quickly and complete many sections of sets. It was a great feeling to know that I could take some skills I already had and apply them in a completely different area.
